CASA KAKTUS, Santa Cruz la Laguna, Guatemala
We are working hard to keep our guests safe during the pandemic. This means we have had to make some changes to our service and space. We are now:
Social distancing – while we usually love to hang out with our guests and make ourselves personally available for questions, we are trying to reduce contact to limit risk whilst still providing assistance using a messaging service where possible.
Wearing masks when in contact with guests.
Leaving space between guest bookings in order to ventilate and thoroughly clean the rooms.
Reducing the number of guests that can be here at any one time and limiting shared communal social spaces to outside areas only to minimize risk.
Carrying out an enhanced cleaning procedure to ensure thorough sanitation
Part of the appeal of Santa Cruz is its isolation. There is currently no road access and the only way here is by boat.. The nearest parking is in nearby Panajachel. There are several carparks where cars can be left for a daily or weekly rate.
Public boats from Panajachel to Santa Cruz leave from the Tzanjuyu dock when tere are enough passengers from about 7am to about 7:30pm. The trip takes 10-15 minutes.
To get to Casa Kaktus from the Santa Cruz dock it takes about five minutes walking. When you come off the dock, take the lakeside trail on the right hand-side until you arrive at a path with the Casa Kaktus sign. Here, turn left away from the lake, then follow the path about 70m up to the entrance.
Please note: The trail has plank walkways and is uneven in some places. Please let us know if you will need help with your luggage and we can meet you at the dock.
Other important information
We are currently unable to receive online or card payments and are only able to receive payments in cash on the premises. We can accept Guatemalan Quetzales and US dollars (in good condition). There are no ATMs in Santa Cruz, but there are many in nearby Panajachel and you can also find them in San Pedro and San Marcos.
There are several hotels with restaurants and a few local restaurants within walking distance. Please note that the hotel restaurants require reservations for their evening meals.
If you have any questions or need any further information, please feel free to contact the Casa Kaktus team. Send us a message here, email us or give us a ring via mobile or Whatsapp.
